Computer Specifications for Digital Audio Recording.

Here are the minimum recommended computer system requirements for anybody looking to get started with digital audio recording. It does not matter if you have a desktop or laptop, either one will do just fine. You will need to have a processor that is dual core 2.0 or higher. Anything less will most likely have complications running modern DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software. Your computer should also have at least 4 gigs of RAM (Random Access Memory). Ram determines the number of tasks your computer can handle at one time. I recommend at least 500 gigs of hard drive space but if you have less that is okay. You can always purchase external hard drives for your computer which is highly recommended anyway. you always want to back up your saved works on as many devices as possible. If you are going to use your music computer for internet browsing, DO NOT surf the web without installing antvirus software (McAfee works great). Viruses can corrupt your hard drive and you could possibly lose all the works you have created. Also another quick reminder, 64 bit and 32 bit operating systems will not affect your audio quality. Newer systems should all come stock with 64 bit but older systems will most likely have 32. 64 bit operating systems can handle twice the amount of ram. Again, this doesn't make much difference as long as your DAW works with your operating system, you are good to go. Well I tried to keep it as short and sweet as I possibly could. I hope this article is helpful and happy recording in 2019!
