We sell and recommend selected, high-end, audiophile quality reproduction gear to the
discerning and realistic audiophile. Our customers want good, clear sound,
but do not want to swim in a sea of nonsense claims, irrational tweaks or
fantasic pseudoscience. Or fantastically inflated prices. We sell what
works, to people who want to hear music.
This is tougher than you'd think. Products have to be musical without adding coloration, they have to be priced in a reasonable fashion for what they
do, they have to do what they claim, they have to have a warranty that
means something, and they have to come from manufacturers who were here
yesterday and are going to be here tomorrow.
And that rules out a lot of manufacturers.
Sometimes we don't have dealer rights to sell a product that we recommend.
That doesn't bother us. We'd rather recommend a good product than sell one
we don't believe in. We'll point you to a reputable dealer in these cases.
But music is more than boxes and wires, so we don't stop there. In
addition to speaker sales and product recommendations, we sell an array of
room treatment services. We'll design a room treatment scheme (or, if
needed, the whole room, from the floor plan on up). We do this because,
nine times out of ten, room acoustics play more of a part in what you hear
than gear does. A lot of people don't want to believe this; the lure of
buying a sexy new box or cool looking wires is a whole lot more
interesting than installing flat absorption panels.
But if you care about the music, those boring flat panels, and where they
are positioned, matter more than the shiny hardware. So that's where I
concentrate my attention. I believe there is no point in owning glorious,
$13,000 speakers if you can't hear what they do, over the room resonances
and image smearing.
Once your room is right, I'm happy to sell you speakers,
though -- or some more modest ones. We resell VMPS speakers, perhaps the
most accurate (and yet, sanely priced) in the world.
When you're tired of hype and claims and weak, unmusical sound, give us a
call.
I'll be in my soundroom, working with some gear and designs you
might be interested in.
